Rent Portable Toilets in Rowan County, NC
All living things produce waste, and I’m not just talking about trash. That’s right, we’re talking about the waste that you need a bathroom for. Because all people create waste, it’s important that they have a place to go to the bathroom, and for many events, this is a big problem. Myers Septic Services offers a large variety of portable toilets for rent in Rowan County, NC and surrounding areas.
We’ve all been there, standing in line outside at an event to use the one public bathroom facility that exists in that area. When we finally make it in after bouncing up and down in line, we tend to find a wrecked bathroom that lacks soap, paper towels, and even worse, toilet paper. Needless to say, it’s a gross and unpleasant experience for many.
How to Rent a Porta-Potty
The reality is, that if you’re hosting an event, you’re going to need a place for people to go to the bathroom. Common places for portable toilets include campgrounds, community gatherings, concerts, construction sites, farmer’s markets, food festivals, home renovation (for workers), house parties, local fairs, music festivals, outdoor fundraisers, parades, rest stops, sporting events, temporary emergency relief sites, and weddings.
Think about renting portable toilets early on in your event planning, at least three months in advance or more. Spring and summer events tend to be booked out pretty far in advance, so make sure to call! The hardest month to get portable toilets is in October. Pumpkin patches, haunted houses and hayrides, and fall festivals, tend to require a lot of bathrooms, so if you’re planning something in October, make sure to plan a several months in advance.
Why Should I Rent Portable Toilets?
Portable Toilets are useful in many situations. Most event venues and work-sites don’t have an adequate number of permanent bathrooms for their guests. This results in long lines and upset guests. When guests finally do manage to get to the bathroom, they are normally messy and the toilets are clogged. Your guests will definitely be unhappy.
Unhappy guests mean that people will leave your event early and disgruntled. If you’re hosting an event or a festival where people are spending money, that’s less money that your event is going to make. It may also provide an incentive for negative or less than stellar reviews on social media, which may damage your event in the long run.
Having portable toilets also allows you to control crowd flow. You don’t want bathrooms blocking entrances, obstructing sight lines, or impeding crowd flow. Portable toilets are portable, so take advantage of that perk! Place them in strategic places where there is less foot traffic and away from crowded areas.
If you’re serving food and/or alcohol at your event, then you are definitely going to want portable toilets. Consuming food and alcohol greatly increases the frequency of bathroom visits. If intoxicated guests are not provided with enough restrooms, they will find an unpleasant alternative to relieve themselves.
Legal requirements are another reason to rent portable toilets. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) sanitation standards require employers to provide bathrooms to employees. So, if you have people working at your event, not just volunteering, you may be required to provide bathrooms. Having a portable toilet on site for your employees also saves time and money. If you’re employees are having to walk a good distance to find a bathroom, that’s time that they are not working. This in turn, will cost you money.
Flushing a toilet requires about a gallon of water. The more people you have at your event flushing toilets, the more that your toilet is being flushed. This could result in a hefty water bill at the end of the month for just one event, and, if you’re trying to be environmentally conscious, countless gallons of water wasted.
Convenience is another great reason to rent portable toilets. For example, if you’re hosting an event in your backyard, it would be great to rent portable toilets. Think about it for a second – guests will be walking in and out of your house to use the bathroom. This could create quite a few messes that you will have to clean up later; muddy footprints and outside debris being dragged in, clogged toilets, and even a messy bathroom if your guests don’t treat your restroom well. It is also another responsibility for you to maintain during an event, tearing your attention from your event to refill the toilet paper and/or soap dispenser in your bathroom. Guests may also use their bathroom journey to explore your house, which may not be something that you want. Renting portable toilets eliminates the need for guests to invade your private space, and there’s no clean-up afterwards! Myers will come and collect the portable toilets after your event.
How Many Portable Toilets Do I Need?
This is one of the first questions you should ask when planning for your event, and it will depend on the number of people you expect, and how long your event is going to last. The more people, and the longer event, the more portable toilets you are going to need.
If you’re not sure how many to rent, check out the chart below.
If you’re planning on serving alcohol at your event, you’re going to need more portable toilets. We recommend renting 10 – 15% than you would if you did not serve alcohol. The chart below is adjusted to reflect adding alcohol to your event.
The types of portable toilets you need will depend on your event, however, every event requires at least one handicap accessible toilet.
Where is the Ideal Portable Toilet Placement?
Since portable toilets are portable, you have options as to where you want to place them at your event. If you place your rentals too far away, then your guests might have trouble getting to them, but if they’re too close, then the sight and smell might detract from your event. Here’s some advice on where to place your portable toilets for a more enjoyable guest experience.
Place your portable toilets in multiple locations. Having toilets in different locations will give greater access to your guests and will give them a more pleasant experience. No one wants to walk back through an entire event just to use the restroom. Space them out so everyone is more comfortable.
Place them off to the side of the most important areas of your event. These areas are where the majority of the people are going to gather, and therefore, the place where the restroom need will be the greatest.
When you have the company place your portable toilets, make sure it is on solid ground. Avoid dirt and soft ground whenever possible. Soft ground and soil will move if there is rain or erode from wear of people walking. This may cause the portable toilets to shift and become unstable. People also don’t want to traverse to the restroom in mud or soft soil.
One of the most important considerations for portable toilet placement is the accessibility of the delivery vehicles. Myers will deliver and pick up the portable toilet so you don’t have to worry about them! We do, however, need to be able to get our truck to the location, and this is the case for any company that rents portable toilets.
Are Portable Toilets Clean?
Portable toilets are clean. Just like with all things, portable toilets have a life cycle. New portable toilets are first put into circulation as event toilets, so the ones you get for your event are either new, relatively new or kept in like-new conditions.
Portable toilets are also cleaned thoroughly, and will be cleaned regularly depending on the length of your event. To clean the portable toilets, our servicing team will arrive and park within 25 feet of the unit. We will pump the waste from each unit with a vacuum hose and then refill each unit with more of the deodorizing product (that’s the blue liquid). Our staff will then scrub the entire inside of the unit – flooring, walls, and seats, and disinfect the entire portable toilet. Finally, we will restock each unit with toilet paper and other amenities that come with the unit of your choice.
The waste will be disposed of at a local wastewater treatment location. This is safe and will not harm the environment.
Different Types of Toilets
Believe it or not, there are many different types of portable toilets besides the standard blue ones that you see. Myers Septic offers several different types of portable toilets, from the basic “blue ones” to a portable toilet trailer.
Our regular portable toilets come in both blue and pink and are perfect for any occasion. These come with a locking door, ventilation, fresh water sink, hand soap dispenser, dual toilet paper dispenser, and napkin dispenser. We also offer these amenities in your handicap accessible portable toilets which come in both blue and white.
If you’re looking for something a little fancier, we also offer blue auto flush portable toilets. Not only do these come with all of the features of our regular portable toilets, but they also have a flushable toilet (with foot pump), a toilet cleanse dispenser, and trash can. Our flushable toilets provide your guests with extra comfort with the addition of the flushing feature and a trash can. Instead of holding waste in an open tank, a flushing portable toilet rinses away after each use. The tank is discretely enclosed and keeps the waste away from eyes and noses.
Weddings and other upscale events held outside or in a location that lacks adequate restrooms, may also need portable toilets. However, most people cringe away from the thought of renting portable toilets for their wedding. That’s why we offer a Portable Toilet Trailer. This trailer is top of the line and is just like a permanent restroom. Sporting heat and air conditioning, lights, running water, Bluetooth, and, radio, this is one trailer you won’t be disappointed in renting for your upscale event. Your guests will be happy that they don’t have to wait to go to the bathroom too!
Myers Septic also offers free-standing hand washing stations to place outside of the portable toilets. If you are having an event that serves food, this is a great addition. Some people don’t want to go inside a portable toilet just to wash their hands, so having an outdoor hand washing station gives guests a place to go freshen up.
We also rent a 300-gallon holding tank which is ideal for job site construction and campers. This could be rented for long events or as a backup for events if you are afraid there will be a greater turn-out. It’s always better to be over-prepared then under-prepared!
